Wake up at 57 miles from New Orleans's city. The US10 is passing directly on the side of the lake Pontchartrain, where we also saw some houses directly built on pillars, over the water.
The city view on the day seem to be bigger than the last year when we came in January and we've pass in the city just before the night. The sun was not with us but the temperature was warm. We go in the city and head up to the downtown. Some houses still show us some signs of the Katrina hurricane also in the less poor quarter, so tomorrow we'll go how are the other quarters.
We also went in a Music store, thing we didn't do for a while! Which pleasure it was to play on instruments, that was missing us.
We also took the time to visit the French Quarter, a beautiful and charming quarter full of life, pubs and restaurants. A good rain felt on New Orleans for about 15 minutes.
Also in the Downtown, where all the towers are situated, we still can see some signs of when the water was on all the city, less than in the other quarters but we can see it.
We also saw a beautiful No War in Iraq write on the wall of a Market. So New Orleans was founded in 1718 by the Frenchs under the direction of Jean Baptiste Le Moyne. To have the complete story of the city, just go on wikipedia and search about New Orleans.
We'll also write that here happen each year a big Jazz Festival and the city is very axed on the music, a picture is proving this fact. Really cool, to walk in the French Quarter and heard some Jazz here and there, some Blues and a little bit of every kind of music.
So tomorrow, we'll visit the other quarters where the water devasted the most.
Here is the map of the day! |
