About our project 03/12/06 - Day 28 - From San Luis.. to Mexico - 5832 miles
When we woke up at 11h00, Anais and Kat came to the Van. She called Josie, who arrived at 12h00. So we take a ride to the border, where we left Kat who's living in Mexico. Josie asked us about going in the sand dunes with her jeep.
A crazy ride, our heads touched the roof couple of times. That was funny! We went back on the real road and just stop in a gas station with a mini-mart. Another funny thing, on the Yuma Newspaper, we can saw the back of Mathieu's head on the first picture! So Michael decided to show to our friends something crazy, Coke diet with Methos.
Back to Anais home, Mick mixed together Coke diet and Menthos, shake the bottle and throw it on the ground. The reaction between Coke diet and Methos make lot of pressure in the bottle, so when you throw the cap of the bottle on the ground, all the pressure goes out of the bottle. Michael's white t-shirt had now some beautiful coke spot in the back, so if you want it, we're selling it for about 250$, special edition - Coke diet & Menthos Yuma 2006 - by Miguel Sensuel. Finally, we make our goodbyes, really hard to do, before leaving for the Mexico. No, just before leaving, we thought about our car insurance receip that we didn't print two days ago. So we asked the girls if they had a printer and Josie had one. We went back to Josie's house and print our receip. We also put the pictures on our camera on his computer.
Anais had also some pictures on her camera, so we went back to his home to put their pictures on our laptops. We finally make our goodbye for the third time, the hardest thing to do when you meet new people and had good time with them, and we move back to the Mexican border.
Which big difference it was, between San Luis and Rio Colorado, like the same city but with a wall between. When you arrived in Rio Colorado, streets look pretty old, everything seem pretty old but lot of people make lot of life in the streets. Everything is now in spanish, and the roads are really different from ours.
Something special, at the border, they just asked us one or two question and everything was okay..no immigration papers, nothing. About 50 miles further, an army control point. 50 miles further, a Police control point this time. Another 30 miles further, a biggest control point. But this time, with an Immigration office and a car registration bureau too! So we're now sure that we are not illegal in Mexico.
We fuel up the car in a Pemex, where we met two cool guys and talk in spanish with them about old volkswagen, about Canada, about Mexico. We finally stop our van in another Pemex, where we'll sleep.
